Raphael Nussbaumer

M. Ravel: Tzigane

Raphael Nussbaumer from Altendorf in Schwyz, Switzerland, joined Philip A Draganov’s violin class when he was 7 years old. In 2016 and 2018 he won 1st prizes with distinction at the final of the Swiss Youth Music Competition - both times as the only participant in his age group.

F. Schubert: Rondo in b minor

His most important international successes include the 4th prize at the “International Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition 2022” in Vienna, Austria, the 2nd prize at the “XXVI. International Violin Competition Andrea Postacchini 2018” in Fermo, Italy, as well as the 2nd prize at the “IX. Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists 2019 ” in Weimar, Germany. Raphael was selected as the only participant from Switzerland to take part in the renowned Menuhin competition 2020 in the USA.
The now 17-year-old performs as a soloist with various orchestras in Switzerland and abroad.


Sumina Studer

N. Paganini: Caprice No. 5

Sumina Studer from Gockhausen, Zurich, completed her preparatory studies for music college with Philip A. Draganov at the Zurich Conservatory. After completing her musical education in Switzerland, Sumina continued her university studies with Prof. Antje Weithaas at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. P.I. Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto D major, Op. 35, 1st mvmt

Hani Song from Zurich joined Philip A. Draganov’s violin class when she was 9 years old. In the following years she won 1st prize and special prize at the international violin competition "Wolfgang Marschner", 1st prize with distinction at the Swiss Youth Music Competition and the sponsorship award of the city of Zurich. Hani is currently studying with Prof. Mi-Kyung Lee at the Munich University of Music and Drama.

P. de Sarasate: Navarra, Op. 33

American violinist Sarah Kuo was trained by Philip A. Draganov at the Zurich Conservatory from the age of 9 to 18. She won the Swiss Youth Music Competition with distinction and the 2nd prize at the Barlassina International YOUNG ARTIST Competition in Italy. Today Sarah studies with Pinchas Zukerman at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.

S. Prokofiev: Violin Sonata No. 2, D major, Op. 94b, 1st & 2nd mvmt

The Japanese-American violinist Valentina Paetsch from Ticino in Switzerland graduated from Philip A. Draganov's pre-college in Zurich. She was the winner of various awards in the finals of the Swiss Youth Music Competition in the categories violin solo, duo violin and piano and piano trio. Furthermore, she was a prizewinner at the "International Youth Music Festival" in Vienna, received 1st prize at the "Torneo Internazionale di Musica" competition in Como (Italy) and was awarded the piano trio Sumire with the special prize of the SUISA Foundation. She studies with Prof Nora Chastain in Berlin.

A. Piazzolla: Primavera porteno (Spring)

South Korean violinist Won-Ho Kim studied with Philip A. Draganov during his precollege years at the Zurich University of the Arts. He won a gold medal at the international youth music competition "Berlingske Tidende" in Copenhagen. A further first federal prize in the solo classification followed in connection with “Jugend musiziert”, combined with a special prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. He was also awarded the "Rising Stars" award by the city of Mönchengladbach. In 2014 Alexander Won-Ho Kim was a finalist at the "TONALi Grand Prix" in Hamburg.
